The Phoenix Suns will look to take another step forward for the NBA title when they host the Dallas Mavericks for Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals tonight.

The Suns seemed to get back their ruthless form of the regular season as they dominated the Mavericks in Game 1 from the beginning, taking a 9-0 lead in the opening minutes.

The Ayton-Booker combination was the biggest positive for Monty William’s side as they added 48 points together.  Chris Paul reflected on the win that looked like an easy affair for the Suns but ended as a good contest between the two sides. In the post-game conference, Paul said:

“We’ll take the win. It’s not always going to be pretty. We played well most of the game. We’ll look at the film tomorrow and see what we need to do differently for Game 2.“

It was always going to be difficult for the Dallas Mavericks to avoid a defeat at the FootPrint Center which is the home arena of the Suns. They need to be prepared for the same challenge again in Game 2.

Luka Doncic was just brilliant in the first game as he added 45 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists to his name. The team coach Jason Kidd highlighted the need for a complete team effort. He said:

“We could have easily been down 39 at halftime but Maxi and LD were good. LD was good in the second half, too. We’ve just got to get someone to join the party.”
