Chelsea vs Southampton Prediction and Odds: Chelsea to Win

Chelsea is predicted to win their upcoming clash against Southampton as per the latest Chelsea vs Southampton Prediction and Odds

Chelsea will try to get their Premier League campaign back on track as they are scheduled to host Southampton on 2nd October.

Thomas Tuchel’s men were completely outclassed by Manchester City as a Gabriel Jesus goal was enough for the away side to subdue the London giants.

Southampton’s on field struggle continued as they lost to Wolves with Raul Jimenez scoring the only goal of the match which later proved to be the winner.

Chelsea vs Southampton Prediction and Odds: Preview

Despite their loss against Manchester City Chelsea are still one of the contenders to lift the Premier League this time. The Blues are determined to prove their point in the League and it’s time for Tuchel to bring his A-game.

Chelsea’s defence has been very lively so far as the defensive shape has maintained its stability despite being pressured throughout this season.

Again Liverpool Antonio Rudiger and company showed brilliant resilience as they managed to salvage a point with 10 men. In the last match too, Edouard Mendy made some smart moves to deny City any further chances.

Southampton too is, a tough nut to crack. But their real problem lies in scoring goals not saving them. Both Che Adams and Adam Armstrong are yet to build a strong partnership and Ralph Hasenhuttl might have to take an alternate way to solve his team’s goal scoring drought.

The Saints haven’t found the net in 270 minutes and their chances of finding the back of the net against a disciplined Chelsea defence is looking very slim unless Hasenhuttl makes any tactical tweak to overcome the problem.

A win for Chelsea could lift them to the top of the table given how Manchester City and Liverpool perform. On the other side, Southampton is still searching for their first Premier League win and another defeat could plunge them into serious trouble.

The Saints supporters are losing their confidence with each passing match and even booed the manager following their toothless display against Wolves.

Hasenhuttl admitted supporters’ frustration cannot be ignored. “We are all disappointed. At the moment we are struggling to find a way to score. This is frustrating, to be honest.

“The chances were there today but we just do not get a big chance against a team who defends this deep. We had the best of the play but did not score – and then they scored from a very naive situation.”

Chelsea vs Southampton Prediction and Odds: Recent From

Chelsea did have some positives from their loss to Manchester City. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was introduced in the 76th minute and the midfielder was quick to react with some very promising display. He tried to have a composed presence on the pitch and made some good darting runs which didn’t yield anything. After spending some nightmare days with his injury setbacks the English international has definitely caught the eyes of Thomas Tuchel who has a difficult task to make.

The likes of Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz are yet to make an impact and Tuchel might have some plans to get the best out of him. They need to win against the Saints in a bid to keep up the pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City.

Southampton’s lack of goal-scoring threat from set piece movements needs to be addressed. They are still coming to terms following the departure of Danny Ings and Jannik Vestergaard who were their bedrock of success as they avoided relegation last season.

Against Wolves, they were the better teams for most of the match. They dictated possessions, registered shots on goal, looked more threatening but their lack of finishing in front of the goal defined the outcome.

Southampton’s decision to bring in Adam Armstrong from Blackburn Rovers received a mixed reaction but the striker is yet to adapt to the pace and trickery of the Premier League. it remains to be seen how much time he needs to get the ball rolling at the St Mary’s Stadium this time.
