Arsenal vs Newcastle Prediction and Odds: Preview

Despite their loss to Liverpool Arsenal have maintained their fifth position but are just one point adrift of Wolves who are in sixth place.

Following the first goal, the floodgates opened and had it not been Aaron Ramsdale in the goal the scoreline could have been much worse.

Their unbeaten streak got broken although did manage to tighten their motive as Mikel Arteta has done a brilliant job to stabilise things at the club.

Following three back to back defeats no one would have imagined the Gunners would be chasing a Champions League place.

The supporters were not angry rather the away supporters gave the team a cheerful exit which must have been very rare these days especially after a heavy defeat to one of your archrivals.

Arteta has blended young players with an experience quite beautifully and the results are evident as they had been on an eight match unbeaten run.

The likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka have brought agility and smartness into the team which also has shaken up things as Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette also have come up with inspired performances.

Arsenal vs Newcastle Prediction

Following a string of good performances, Ramsdale is expected to stick in between the sticks.

Nuno Tavares had a tough outing against Liverpool and Kieran Tierney should have his chance against the relegation contenders. Takehiro Tomiyasu will fill in the other fullback position.

Gabriel and Ben White will marshal the deep defence.

Thomas Partey should have his chance in the midfield alongside Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka will start on the wings while both Aubameyang and Lacazette are likely to start upfront.

It was not a bad start for Eddie Howe as Newcastle played a six goal thriller with Brentford. It remains to be seen how the Magpie come out of their relegation mess but their fate will depend largely on the next three matches.

Fortunately, the new couple of matches are against lesser stronger opponents. Three wins out of three would be massive as they are also scheduled to face Arsenal in what could be Howe’s fourth match in charge. The Gunners are in consistent form but a good performance against the North Londoners could set the mood alight at St James’ Park.

If they somehow grind out a positive result against the Gunners it would be huge given they are currently submerged in the drop zone. Wins against their relegation opponent Burnley and Norwich City would provide them with the platform for survival.

The urgency has already been seen as the Magpies produced a delightful display in the last match having 23 attempts on goal.

Joelinton’s inspirational display has allowed other players to come into the game and prove their worth.

Howe’s energetic system could bring the best out of the Brazilian and he would be eager to stamp his authority. He tormented Brentford defenders and got his deserving reward as he found the net at the stroke of 39 minutes.

The Magpies are likely to dig deep in the transfer market to find the exact match for Howe’s setup. However, However, the Magpies cannot wait till the January window as it could have an effect on their Premier League status. Howe could redevelop the player he has at the club currently as it is not possible to change the entire squad in one window. He needs to make sure the club further doesn’t deepen in the relegation zone further as it would be difficult for the manager to reinstate their Premier League status.

Defensive frailties have been Newcastle’s main problem and Howe must address the situation in the January transfer window.

Arsenal should forget the Liverpool match and need to come to all guns blazing against the relegation strugglers. They do have the potential to upset Newcastle and a statement win against them would only cement Arteta’s beliefs.

Midfield was switched off in the last game and Partey and Co are touted to improve in the next match. Defence got exposed badly but with a team like Newcastle against them, they are expected to brush them off with ease.

It remains to be seen whether Howe introduces Martin Dubravka to the lineup. Fabian Schar hobbled off against Brentford and might miss this clash.

Arsenal’s unbeaten run: – Beat Norwich, Burnley, and Watford 1-0. – Drew to Palace + Brighton. – Beat Spurs + Villa who went onto sack their managers. – Beat Leicester who look like utter dross. With how their fans were speaking you’d think they’ve won the treble or something.

Arsenal play a high line and Tavares in that system is the “winger” when ESR tucks into the half space and even he isn’t that advanced… City control games and even Cancelo isn’t that advanced

Do Arsenal hold the ball as much as Chelsea? If your team attacks as much as Chelsea does then trust me Tavares would be as high as RJ. Did you watch both games you used to analyse James?
